The RTVue OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is an ultra-high speed, high resolution ocular scanner.  The OCT technology is used to scan the ocular tissues similar to how an MRI scans the brain and a CT scans the heart.  It allows us to take a cross-sectional view of the different layers of the retina, optic nerve and cornea so we can observe the eye in a way never before possible.  Because we aren’t just looking at the surface of the retina we can analyze the tissues that exhibit the very earliest signs of diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal tumors.
